Uruguay operates a clear state-led model in which Law No. 19.535 (2017) prohibits all online gambling that has not been expressly authorised by the state. As no private operators have been approved, online casino games, slots, poker, bingo, and all non-state sports betting are illegal, and the law empowers authorities to block related websites, payments, and advertising.
As of 2025, sports betting is the sole authorised online product, offered via Supermatch, Uruguay’s sole authorised online sports-betting platform.
