Peru has had a legal framework for land-based gambling since 1999. Online casino and sports betting were brought into scope in 2022, with the law updated a year later to tighten definitions and clarify tax rules.

The market is run by the DGJCMT, a department within the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism. It issues licences, checks compliance, and monitors both land-based and online operators.

With clear requirements, relatively low taxes, and rising internet use, Peru is one of the more straightforward entry points into Latin America.
